Queenstown is easily one of New Zealand’s most gorgeous places — and the perfect spot for a destination wedding! Located on the South Island, right on the banks of Lake Wakatipu, this adventure town is framed by the Remarkables, a dramatic mountain range that’s the ideal base for outdoor exploration.

For couples, it’s also home to a range of epic spaces to celebrate your love! The best wedding venues in Queenstown include boutique wineries, luxurious private lodges, or alpine escapes, offering unforgettable ceremony and reception spaces.

If you’re happiest in the mountains and dream of a destination wedding surrounded by blue skies, jagged peaks, and crisp fresh air, then Queenstown just might be the perfect choice for you! It’s a winner in both winter and summer, with both seasons offering unique views and fun adventures to enjoy, from heliskiing in winter to cycling winery tours in the warmer months.

To inspire you, here are some of the top top wedding venues in Queenstown, NZ. Each one offers stunning mountain views, amazing hospitality, and beautiful spaces to connect and celebrate with intention and romance.

1. Wonder & Full

@wonderandfull_events

Wonder & Full is one of my favourite Queenstown outdoor wedding venues! Located in Jack’s Point, right on the shores of Lake Tewa, this idyllic space offers both lake and mountain views.

Weddings at Wonder & Full include a lakefront dock ceremony space that’s so serene, especially if you’d like to say your vows in the late afternoon sunlight as it pours in over the mountains. The venue can provide a raised white circular platform that you stand on as you exchange your vows — not only does the elevated platform make it easy for your guests to see everything, but it also adds a unique and striking element to your wedding.

For your reception, there’s an elegant clear marquee for dinner, but also beautiful lawns where you can offer a post-ceremony cocktail for your guests. There’s also so much open space, making it easy to bring in a food truck or pizza van–such a casual and fun addition to weddings that guests always go wild for!

With classic white furniture, beautifully draped linen, and the florals of your choosing, it’s easy to transform the simple marquee into your dream space, whether you’re all about laid-back country vibes or bold luxury.

Intimate weddings work so well here, as Wonder & Full offers special packages for parties of fewer than 30 guests (available on Mondays and Tuesdays). However, they can host up to 150 guests in total.

Wedding photography at Wonder & Full is always a pure joy, with plenty of locations where we can shoot. The timber dock on the lake is a gorgeous place to photograph at golden hour, framed by the dramatic Remarkables mountain ranges. It offers those quintessential South Island views which add a beautiful sense of place to your images.

2. Jack’s Retreat

@jacksretreat

If you prefer the serenity of Queenstown wedding venues with lake views, Jack’s Point is another wonderful option! Jack’s Point Village is a gorgeous area with a championship golf course on Lake Wakatipu, and a popular lakefront restaurant, known for its seasonal ingredients.

You’re also right next to Jack’s Retreat, a luxury retreat offering boutique accommodation, designed by one of New Zealand’s leading architects.

Together, Jack’s Point and Jack’s Retreat are the perfect setting for an intimate wedding! You’ll love the amazing lake and mountain views, but there are also so many surrounding trails, ideal for a sunrise hike and exchanging your vows at first light.

Then, you could host a casual afternoon lunch for your guests, or enjoy a mini honeymoon together, enjoying all the wonderful outdoor activities that Queenstown is known for.

Jack’s Retreat also offers its own Queenstown wedding ceremony locations, with wedding packages for parties of up to 180 guests. You can say your vows along the lake or in their garden, followed by celebrations in their gorgeous studio terrace, known as Jack’s Retreat house, with open-air views, black steel, and gorgeous local stone.

An elopement or wedding at Jack’s Retreat wedding is ideal for couples who want to be immersed in the beauty of nature and love the idea of being surrounded by organic, inspiring architecture that seamlessly blends the indoors and outdoors.

3. Winehouse

@winehousenz

It’s so easy to fall in love with Winehouse, a charming Queenstown wedding venue! A lovingly restored villa from the 1940s, Winehouse is now a popular wedding space with lovely gardens, orchards, and views of the Gibbston mountains. Your rental will be for exclusive use, ideal for couples who are all about privacy and quality time with their guests.

The venue’s croquet lawn is perfect for an outdoor ceremony — imagine a manicured lush green lawn, framed by shrubbery and hedgerows, with mountain views behind you. Or, the Pavilion is an indoor option, filled with light, featuring an oversized stone fireplace that’s so inviting! With versatile spaces, your Winehouse elopement can host anywhere from 30-250 guests.

Winehouse also offers winter wedding packages, which would photograph so beautifully. They provide cosy wraps and blankets if you’d like an outdoor ceremony on the croquet lawn, then enjoy their heated marquee as you and your guests sip mulled wine and hot chocolate!

One amazing feature of weddings at Winehouse is that they have their own helipad, which means we can fly up to the mountains for completely remote photography! Inspiring mountain views and glacial lakes, combined with some alone time to soak up the elation of your big day, is so special — and your heli photos will be so dramatic and unforgettable!

4. Stoneridge Estate

@stoneridgeestate

Just 15 minutes from town, Stoneridge Estate is one of my favourite Queenstown vineyard wedding venues! This luxury lodge and cellar door offers everything you could want, including incredible food and wine, five-star boutique accommodation, and bespoke wedding packages that you’ll love.

This romantic venue can cater to luxury or rustic chic so well, with gorgeous architecture and impeccable hospitality. The cute stone Chapel by the Lake, reminiscent of a village in Germany or Switzerland, is a popular ceremony choice, or you can exchange your vows outside on the lake, which is stunning on a sunny day! It overlooks Lake Hayes and is surrounded by tall oaks, roses, and honeysuckle, with sweet floral aromas welcoming guests in spring and summer.

The reception spaces are just as gorgeous — The Hayes Room is their largest venue, which can seat up to 120 seated guests. This timeless space, with a focal point wrought-iron chandelier, exposed beams, and old-world charm, really feels like a European fairy tale come to life.

Or, for a more casual and small reception, the beautiful Cellar Door seats up to 40, with stained glass, a unique arched design, and hardwood and stone architecture.

If you’re looking for Queenstown venues for private elopements, Stoneridge Estate offers midweek intimate wedding packages for 2-20 people. Smaller weddings enjoy the same epic attention to detail that Stoneridge provides for larger weddings, plus they also have a helipad for those epic lake and mountain wedding portraits!

5. NZ High Country

@nzhighcountry

Last but certainly not least, NZ High Country is easily one of the best choices for a New Zealand mountain wedding. It’s one of the area’s newest wedding spaces, but they’ve quickly impressed with a stunning range of outdoor locations. NZ High Country is all about rustic charm and classic Queenstown mountain views, along with options to add on decor and installations to suit your theme.

Tussock Point is one of the most popular NZ High Country wedding spaces, offering stunning views overlooking Lake Wakatipu. The sweeping vistas of both the lake and mountains are so beautiful! You can also easily customise this space with a marquee or tent for your reception, or say your vows at Tussock Point, then host your reception elsewhere — there are plenty of options here, like Lake June!

The Lake June space is also a great option, a spacious open grassland area featuring the sparkling lake and lots of native flora, with dramatic mountains in the background. There’s also a permanent marquee on site, which means it can cater to weddings year-round, with space for up to 150 for a seated dinner.

This space does rustic chic so well, with exposed timber, lots of natural light, and stylish and retro-inspired furnishings, plus a large outdoor lawn area to enjoy on warmer days. Their wedding packages also include access to the marquee the day before and the morning after, ideal for couples who want the extra set-up time for DIY decorating!
