Adelaide is the perfect spot for a European-inspired wedding! Although you’ll find plenty of chic wedding venues in the city, you don’t have to travel far to find gorgeous garden wedding venues in Adelaide, offering romance, natural landscapes, and sophisticated style.
Thanks to popular shows like Bridgerton, White Lotus, and The Gilded Age, the beauty of Europe’s whimsical gardens, historic architecture, and rolling hills have never been more appealing to couples planning an outdoor wedding — but luckily, you don’t need to go all the way to Europe to find that vibe!
With heritage homes, wineries, and luxury farms just outside the city, here are my favourite European-inspired garden wedding venues in Adelaide! They each offer elegance, stunning outdoor spaces, and romantic landscapes you’ll love.
1. Villarica Estate
@villarica_estate
Villarica Estate, inspired by a traditional Tuscan villa, is easily one of the best Adelaide wedding venues with European ambience! This private and spacious farm truly makes you feel like you’ve been transported into the rustic beauty of the Italian countryside, with tall cypress trees, terracotta tiling, and stucco. The architecture is accompanied by beautiful fountains, wrought-iron gates, and even a stable, home to several horses.
You can hire out Villarica for exclusive use for your wedding and it suits so well for a range of wedding styles, whether you’re imagining a European-inspired black tie or a more relaxed, bohemian style.
You’ll also have access to two master bedrooms in the Main House, ideal for your getting ready in the morning, plus over 12,000 square metres of land — which means so many gorgeous outdoor areas for your Villarica Estate wedding photography!
Located in the Adelaide Hills, this venue only accepts a limited number of wedding bookings per year, so definitely don’t delay if this is your dream wedding space! It’s so unique to find such a quintessentially Italian-style venue here in Adelaide, so you won’t want to sleep on this one.
2. Chateau Yaldara
@chateauyaldara
Dreaming of French luxury for your Adelaide wedding? If so, Chateau Yaldara might be just the place! This beautiful Barossa Valley winery is home to a stunning stone chateau, designed in French style, and offers amazing indoor and outdoor locations for your wedding!
You can say your vows outdoors in the formal manicured Chateau Gardens, then host your reception in the unique Barrel Hall, lined with wine barrels and with space for up to 180 guests, or in the Manor House, a grand European-style ballroom that also hosts up to 180—you’ll love the vaulted ceilings, parquet floors, and crystal chandeliers. And with hand-crafted wines and an emphasis on local produce, you and your guests will love the dining experience here as well.
Your Chateau Yaldara wedding photos will be so elegant and timeless, with lots of natural light and stunning locations where we can shoot. I love the grand stone staircase leading up into the chateau and the lush, green garden spaces, complete with fountains, a gazebo, and, of course, the gorgeous rolling hills of vineyards!
3. AL RU Farm
@alru_farm
AL RU Farm is an unforgettable garden and one of the most beloved European-themed wedding venues in Adelaide! This charming homestead, run by a local couple, has such a provincial, European feel, with stunning gardens and lawns that always feel so magical!
This space works so well for a country garden wedding and you’ll have exclusive access, ideal for couples seeking privacy. You can host your garden ceremony in the White Wedding Garden or Lily Pond Lawn, both gorgeous, lush garden spaces with an elevated platform, ensuring your guests have a perfect view.
The gorgeous Homestead Lawn, with soft twinkling lights, tall trees, and ivy-covered brick is the perfect spot for an outdoor reception and it always photographs so well, especially in golden hour. Or, the indoor Barn space offers a rustic chic style that’s ideal in cooler weather.
There are also three luxurious suites on site if you or some of your wedding party want to spend the night. As wedding specialists, the packages here make it easy to plan your celebrations — and while the Homestead Lawn can cater for up to 200, there are also spaces that work well here for more intimate weddings! Al RU Farm offers a Mon-Thurs package for weddings of up to 45 guests for romantic garden elopements or micro weddings.
4. The Manor Basket Range
@themanorbasketrange
The Manor Basket Range, in the Adelaide Hills, is a dream come true for couples seeking a romantic European castle wedding. Although this historic estate was only built in 1935, it feels so much older thanks to hand-laid stonework, ivy covered walls, and beautiful detailing.
There’s even a small, on-site garden chapel where you can say your vows or a range of other indoor or outdoor garden spaces for your ceremony. For your reception, the Pinchbeck Ballroom can host up to 220 and is a stunning space with lead-light windows, an oversized fireplace, and an open courtyard. Or, the Parlour is a cosy private dining room for weddings of up to 22 guests, ideal for an intimate wedding or elopement.
On the property, there are 12 townhouse-style suites, ideal if you and some of your wedding party want to spend the night!
Your Manor Basket Range wedding photos will look and feel so romantic, with stunning European charm — this unique space is all about cobblestones, lush greenery, and the dramatic beauty of the castle itself. This venue is so gorgeous in spring and summer, but is particularly beautiful in autumn, thanks to the vibrant fall foliage everywhere you look!
5. Carrick Hill
@carrick_hill
Carrick Hill is a gorgeous heritage home just outside Adelaide, known for its spectacular grounds and gardens. The gardens are open to the public year-round, but are also available for weddings, if you’re seeking Old World elegance!
It’s one of the best places near Adelaide for a European-style country wedding, essentially a romantic garden that can be personalised to suit your style. This venue can host up to 200 guests in indoor or outdoor spaces.
One of the most popular ceremony locations is the Cypress Pines, a stunning walkway lined by soaring cypress trees that opens onto spacious terraced lawns and a serene pond. For your reception, celebrate under the stars or in the Pavilion, a brand-new function space drenched in natural light.
As your Adelaide wedding photographer, I’ll help you create such romantic images here! Your Carrick Hill wedding photos will be so whimsical and special, thanks to rose beds, native bushland, a pear arboretum, and vibrant blooming florals. Spring is especially beautiful here, as the orchards and florals are so colourful and fragrant.
6. Mount Lofty House
@mountloftyhouse
Mount Lofty House, in the Adelaide Hills, is an elegant and award-winning historic home, dating back to 1852. With huge lawns and gardens overlooking the serene Piccadilly Valley, the outdoor vistas here are reminiscent of a European countryside manor home. It’s the perfect choice for couples who love the idea of a luxury garden wedding.
For an outdoor reception and ceremony, the Piccadilly Lawns is a stunning, lush green space, framed by hedgerows and a stone fence. Here, you can say your vows overlooking beautiful rolling hills–this space is so romantic and magical, especially during the golden hour!
Or, if you prefer to celebrate indoors, host your reception in the Piccadilly Panorama, a unique ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring you and your guests don’t miss a moment of the gorgeous views and soft sunset!
Mount Lofty House weddings are always so elevated and well-organised, as they are one of Adelaide’s premier venues, known for their amazing cuisine, hospitality, and bespoke wedding planning services.
Your wedding images here will be so classically beautiful, as we can shoot amongst such timeless garden features, like dense forests, open meadows, and ivy-covered stone walls.
7. Golding Wines
@goldingwines
Europe is, of course, known for its amazing wineries, but Golding Wines is a beautiful local vineyard that has a Mediterranean feel to it. This locally owned winery in the Adelaide Hills is ideal for couples seeking a fun and stylish venue with a rustic chic vibe.
With soft rolling hills of grapes and a gorgeous sandstone feature barn, this inviting space can host up to 200 guests (80 minimum) and includes a beautiful garden space for your outdoor ceremony. Of course, your reception can be paired with amazing wines, produced on site, but the cuisine here is also incredible. Ginkgo, the winery’s restaurant is known for both their seasonal menus and wood fired pizzas.
You’ll love the wedding photos we can create here, as the landscapes here feel like a mix of quintessential Australian, with tall gum trees and beautiful sunsets, paired with European-style manicured gardens.
Like many of the other venues mentioned here, Golding only accepts a limited number of weddings per year, so act fast!
